Nativity Festival
The Festival
The Corvallis Nativity Festival is a family-friendly, community event, which runs for 5 days during the first weekend of December. Hundreds of community members have shared their nativity sets (crèches) during the festival's 24-year history. Come and enjoy the never-ending variety of beautiful and inspiring nativities. They range from simple to whimsical to elegant to homemade. The hundreds of different nativities make this a unique holiday experience.

Music is a key part of the festival. Live music is performed throughout each day, including short evening concerts. See the Events page for more details.

Be sure to visit our family activity room where you will find coloring, reading books, a swaddling station, and other crafts. Plus on Saturday and Sunday you can attend one of our many puppet shows, see the Events page for show times.

Interested in Helping? – Here’s How
Hundreds of volunteers are what makes this festival a success -- it truly is the community’s festival! There are many ways to be involved, from helping set up (or take down) to hosting during the festival to sharing your own nativity. Join in and help with this year's festival.

Setting Up and Cleaning Up
Many hours of manual labor go into setting up and cleaning up the festival. There are many different ways to help from ironing fabric to helping designers; there is something for everyone. These opportunities are divided into many shifts, most of which are 2 to 3 hours long, starting Nov 19 and ending on Dec 5. Click here to sign up for specific times.
 
Hosting
Hosting is a big part of the festival. A host is part friendly greeter, part information giver, and part guard (to keep little hands from touching). No expertise is required. We just want every one to feel welcome. Most hosts and hostesses stand for approximately 2 hours, although there is opportunity to sit if needed. Click here to sign up for specific host shifts between Nov 30 and Dec 4.
 
Sharing Your Nativities
We would love for you to share your nativity set(s). Do not worry if they’re not fancy-- portrayals in all styles, mediums, and sizes are welcome and encouraged of this wondrous story. In order to involve all those who might want to display, please bring in 25 or fewer nativity sets.

If you are a new displayer, have a new nativity to share, or have particular information you want us to know about your nativity set(s), please email us at: coordinator@corvallisnativityfestival.org by Sunday, Nov 18. This advanced communication is helpful for us as we prepare for the event.

NATIVITY SET UP
WHEN:Thursday, Nov 29
TIME: Between 12pm and 9pm
PLACE: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints church building
4141 NW Harrison Blvd.
Corvallis, OR 97330

Nativity owners will be setting up and taking down their own nativities, although some help will be available.

NATIVITY PICK UP
WHEN: Tuesday, Dec 4
TIME: Between 4:00pm and 7:00pm

All nativities must be removed by 7:00pm or sooner so we can dismantle the design displays. We appreciate your help with this important step.

Details about Checking In and Out of Nativities
Enter through the rear of the building (east back door). Please label each nativity piece (perhaps use an address label on the bottom). We don’t want any orphan nativities--it is very difficult to track down owners if pieces are not labeled.

Small children can be distracting and make setup difficult. Our experience has been that the task is accomplished more efficiently if little ones can be left with someone.
 
Security
This is a “no touch” exhibit. The building is NEVER left unattended during this event. Displays are behind ropes to keep them safe. We always have several Nativity Festival volunteers in the display room during the hours we are open. At night we have people in the building watching over the displays.
